Find out how this busy new Mama practices self care and puts dinner on the table for her family, while running a successful business in our Interview with her bellow!
What made you decide to launch The Okie Brand?
I believed that there was a need for an Oklahoma based Hat Brand. I noticed all these Okie guys/girls wearing brands that were based out of Texas, and thought “man, that’s just not right! If Okies are going to wear an Oklahoma hat, then it needs to be made by an Oklahoma based company!”
What is your favorite item currently in your shop?
I would have to say right now I am LOVING the Tish-white hat! It is super comfortable, lightweight for summer, and dry fit so it’s perfect for the LakeLife!
Can you give other Mom Entrepreneurs looking to launch their own business one piece of advice?
Don’t ever give up on your dream! Work that day job, keep being a great momma, never lose sight of your personal goals, and keep grinding until your side hustle becomes your main hustle. I’ve always wanted to start and run my own company (I’ve actually done it once before with an embroidery business) I knew the “9-5” work lifestyle wasn’t for me, so I did something about it. I also come from a family of entrepreneurs, so I believe it’s in my blood! ha!
If you’re that momma too, I encourage you to keep pushing even when you want to give up. Trust me I’ve wanted to give up the dream many times, BUT the reward is MUCH sweeter. There is no better feeling than being able to create your own day-to-day schedule, and manage your own time.
How long have you lived in Tulsa?
I moved to Tulsa in 2018, and have loved it ever since! Okies are some of the most genuine, kind hearted people that I’ve ever met. I truly feel at home here.
How do you practice self-care?
Gosh, I struggled with this after having my 1st son, June of 2021. It was SO difficult to find ANY time for myself between taking care of him all day long, growing my business, and being a wife! Self care at that time was a long hot shower, a glass of wine in the evening, and a little Netflix at night to end the day. Now I have him in daycare, so that has taken a HUGE burden off of my shoulders, and I can get more things accomplished during the day. I sometimes find time for myself to get my nails done, workout, or go to lunch with a loved one. That would be my form of self care at the moment!
How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
I have one son, Liam- 1 year old June 4th!
What is your go-to healthy family meal that everyone loves?
My family’s lifestyle is honestly so busy at the moment, so I cheat and order Factor 75 Keto meals delivered to our door every Wednesday!! haha! Sorry I’m no help there.
Favorite Date Night restaurant/activity in Tulsa?
When we get to have a date night we love a good steak from Ruth’s Chris at RiverSpirit Casino, or a fun Dinner and underground Jazz performance at Duet Downtown.
