What made you decide to launch your first location of Magnolia Soap and Bath Co?
I found out about this business in Fall of 2020 and thought this would be such an amazing experience to bring to Tulsa
What is your number one, can’t start your day without product or products?
For me it is our Shower Oil! I use it as my perfume!
How long have you lived in Tulsa?
My parents were born in Tulsa and raise in Skiatook. I grew up part of my childhood on our family farm in Skiatook and moved back to Tulsa area in 2007!
How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
I have two kids. Our daughter Claiborne is about to turn 22 and is a senior at KU and our son Mason is 19 and he works along side me in the stores and makes our soap.
What is your favorite family activity in Tulsa?
We love the Gathering Place. It is by far my favorite destination in Tulsa to go and visit and sit.
What is your favorite date night spot in Tulsa?
We love to do restaurant crawls. So we pick a street- Cherry, Brookside, downtown, Pearl area and hop from restaurant to restaurant- doing an app in each place. It takes a long time, so we will block out a few hours but this is so much fun and a great way to explore restaurants in each cool spot. I am looking for more areas to explore too. We have now switched to Sunday Brunching all over Tulsa! This is the day we start late and we are having a blast exploring all the different brunch spots in Tulsa.
What did you do for work before you started Magnolia Soap and Bath Co Tulsa?
I am a serial entrepreneur! I have started and sold several successful businesses. I however am a Doctor of Chiropractic. I met my husband in school and we had a practice together 1998-2017 until I stepped away to pursue my dreams.
How do you practice self-care?
I love to exercise & read. My favorites are PIYO (Pilates & yoga) & reading crime fiction novels.
Can you give other Mom Entrepreneurs looking to launch their own business one piece of advice?
Give yourself grace. Being a mom and owning a business is hard. Seek relationships with other women business owners. Align yourself to compliment each others business and help each other grow with sharing and collaboration. Mentorship & coaching is very important too. I learned that many will start business without systems and processes in place. Get that foundation first so when times are hard you can fall back on those- instead of starting with marketing and advertising. You need to build your house on solid foundation. Additionally, set goals. put them in writing and monitoring the goals. If you have staff, motivate them and get them involved in the goals. Row the boat in the same direction!
How do us Mamas find your amazing products?!
We have two stores! Our first on Cherry Street (right across from MiCocino & next to Rustic Cuff) the second we just opened in Nov. 2021 in Woodland Hills Mall- directly across from Apple and next to Lush. You can also follow us on Instagram!
