This local mama is one “Buzy” lady. Candice Blackwell opened her new business, Buzy Beez Party Rentals right when the pandemic hit. Not only has she grown this amazingly fun business over the last year, she also has a cute cookie business on the side and just got her real-estate license! She is ready to level-up your child’s birthday party with adorable animal hoppers, ball pits, bouncers and more. How long have you lived in Tulsa?
My husband and I were born and raised in Sand Springs, OK. After graduating college, we moved to The Woodlands, Texas and stayed almost 10 years! We moved back to the Tulsa area in June of 2020. We now live in Owasso!
How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
My oldest is Emilia (age 7), Ben (age 6) and Caroline (age 3)
What is your favorite family activity in Tulsa?
We love to take the kids out on Friday nights for family dinner night and ice cream. In the summer months we enjoy swimming or being on the lake!

What did you do for work before you started Buzy Beez Party Rentals?
I worked in the oil and gas industry before staying at home with the kids, about 6 years. I had the privilege of staying at home after our son was born. I started dabbling in cookie decorating shortly after having Caroline. My old neighbor did cakes and cookies and taught me because I needed cookies for my best friends baby shower and she couldn’t do them so I thought why not? and it started from there!
Tell us about how Buzy Beez Party Rentals came to life?
I was aware of a soft play rental company in Houston that I thought was very special and unique. Once we got settled back in Oklahoma I started looking around and there were ZERO soft play rental companies at that time. I wanted it for my own daughter’s 2nd birthday party so I convinced my husband to let me give it a go. I started buying inventory and coming up with package ideas and color schemes. I’m proud to say we were the first company in town and are unique in providing modern, trendy color palette options. We do the set ups mostly as a family and it’s special to have something we are all included in and doing together!
What are the different Buzy Beez Party Rentals party themes? Which theme is your favorite?
We have several different themes. We have a basic gray and white package that is all gray and white soft play equipment, ball pit, etc. Customers can add colors to this package by adding different colors in the ball pit or building blocks. We have a brand new package that I’m super excited about — Luxe Rainbow Package which has the most adorable pastel rainbow bouncer, a 5.5ft ball pit, foam wedge climbing pieces, and color coordinated animal hoppers. I also adore our greens and blues package (a favorite from last summer). It’s a combo of teal blue, blue, gray and a seafoam green color. We are all about customizing party packages for our customers — things can be switched out or added (based on availability! best to book early). I love working with these sweet mommas to make their party dreams come true. We also have some brighter pink, purple and blue soft play equipment for the brighter color party palettes. My favorite item is our new inventory of all white bouncers!

Cookies have been a great creative outlet for me. I have a passion for art and baking. It’s been something special I can do from home, when my times allows (nap time and after bed most days). I haven’t been doing as many cookies the past year because I have been focusing on Buzy Beez and finding creative ways to market our services.
What piece of advice would you give to another Mom who wants to pursue their small business dream?
Go for it! If you have a spouse, sit them down and get on the same page, decide if it’s the right time for you and your family to pursue the dream! You have to have the support to make it work. We mommas wear many many hats around the home.. time management is KEY!
